John Ellis says: Such a minor imperfection that it would not have been boring whether there or not. The composition makes good use of fairly banal material with the exception of the voodoo like figure hanging from the tree - that somehow turns this into something of a higher order.

John Ellis says: Snatched, tilted and containing subject matter that SP purists increasingly tell us to shy away from. But that treatment heightens the feeling of a meal taken on the hoof - life on the edge.

John Ellis says: Frankly, there is no imperfection here - unless one considers pushing dynamic range to be a sin! But don't all photographers get drawn to pushing the limits of light and shade? Of course the white marks on his face 'save' this but even without that great touch, the hanging object to his right would still have made the shot acceptable.

John Ellis says: All the joy and Joie de vivre of youth. One will never ever manage to relive a moment like this. Perfectly judged panning.

John Ellis says: It is strange when real technical imperfection works better than if all were executed perfectly. This shot may have encapsulated the brief better than anything else, even the top selection from Regina.

John Ellis says: Finding green-haired girls seems to be the order of the day! I'm not sure what the imperfection is but the observation and humour are there.

John Ellis says: A compositional horror story that does win through and I hope he lines himself up correctly to manage to get the woman. In good Catholic fashion she is demurely hidden.

John Ellis says: The figures are all perfectly placed and the '50s-style film look, just coping with the light, comes out as a winner.

John Ellis says: To a large extent I question whether there is an imperfection here at all but if one assumes that it is the bright light then fine - but, yes, the picture might be more boring without it.
