A male monarch butterfly feeding on fleabane blossom nectar. Monarchs are toxic to most predators due to the glycosides they accumulate from consuming milkweed. But no one notified the red-vented bulbul, an introduced bird that I have seen consume monarch larvae. I haven’t seen monarchs in several years and hope this recent sighting of several is a resurgence.
