Arthropod Appetizer

This common house sparrow usually feeds on seeds and grass shoots. But during the mating season, insects provide a necessary boost in dietary proteins. This one has caught some type of arthropod, probably a spider, among the grass seed heads. Female house sparrow (Passer domesticus).
