Bug Breakfast

Fresh caught hopper for breakfast. A northern mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) returns to the nest site with its catch. It flittered around the top of a naupaka bush until the coast was clear, careful not to give away the exact location of the nest in the underbrush. This alien species has become common in dry habitats of the main Hawaiian Islands.
