things to do on your birthday - have coffee with a bunny
having gone to the gym, showered and dressed, etc, i sojourned to the deck for a moment of backyard relaxation, iced coffee, and the usual profound and meditative reflection on another year's passing, musings on the meaning of life, and the sobering realization that forty really might not be the new thirty. it was only 7:15 in the morning (yes, i woke before 5am on my birthday, despite having the day off) and it was a perfect 72 and sunny. i sat there for only a few minutes before our bunny appeared. he lives under the deck, and he adopted us a few weeks ago. so far, we have fed him lettuce, broccoli, green peppers, cauliflower, carrots, celery, and bananas. (the bananas were a big hit).
his name is either "buddy" or "fred" ,depending on whom you ask. he possesses just the right combination of bravery and stupidity, because he let's us get about two or three feet away before flinching. this morning, the two of us just sat there together, sharing coffee and grass, and sending text messages to a friend. it was a good start to the day.
