The 1,000th IG Shot
So, here I am, sitting next to one of the most famous landmarks in the city. Well, a photo of it anyway...
I came to a realization the other day, that I've posted quite a lot of photos. A lot. Though, not as many as others, or those who have been with Instagram since the beginning; it's still a lot for me. And because I'm not the type to delete pictures willy-nilly (ha, funny word; is that a word?), there have been good shots and shitty ones. Subsequently, the combination of the two, have lead me to reach this, the millennial marker.
Over the last couple of years that I have been on this site, I've posted many shots that I not only have been lucky enough to shoot, but also of things that have been going on in my life. But mainly, it's been super fortunate shots of the moon and the sun and the sea. And the ocean. And the blue skies. Basically, everything that is "living" in California lol.
More to the point, I have really grown to like this photographic centered community, that seems to care when when I share things about my life. When I feel down, there's been the few to leave sympathetic comments. When I post pieces of my past, there's been some who are so nice to actually read all the nonsense that I seem to vent. And, when I post a random shot, there have been those who comment on how outstanding the shot looks. Even if I don't think it to be the case...
So, how to mark the one thousand shot? With another natural wonder that makes life in LA the envious emotion? No. I wanted to shoot something I haven't shot in a long time. Something that I so rarely post. Something, that really shows the kind of person I am. So, what other way to define that very thing, then with the obvious. A selfie.
Some of you know I'm not the type to post selfies much. Or at all - though, I believe there was one oh so long ago in my first posts.
...I dislike being in front of the camera. In front of a bunch of people I can do, and do daily, but posing for a lens is another thing. Something in my mind, I guess, about not being able to control the results. I don't know, my logic is weird sometimes. I'm more the director type, rather then the actor.
So yeah, I thought this was a proper way to mark this occasion. And, though I have the urge to say "but first, let me take a selfie," I won't. Wait, did I just? Ah damn it!
Right... So. The next shot I post will probably be the usual brand of bright colors, weirdness and total awesomeness that Mother Nature creates. Like hey that squirrel over there, it looks pretty awesome doesn’t it? If it can just stand still for a second. "Click."
For now though, at least you can put a face to the person behind the lens of the last thousand shoots.
Hi. My name is Oscar Alex (yes two first names, long story). I'm 32ish. I'm a Cancer. I'm half Hispanic/half Irish. I battle depression from losing my family and am in the stages of recovering from it - though it's not always a forward progress. Oh and I like long walks on the beach and all that jazz.
This new life I lead is...well, new; and fun at times. But it can be lonely. Very. Through it all, I have been able to place a smile on my face occasionally...
So, thank you to all you lovely ladies for your amazing support, and for caring for this wounded soul with a broken heart - even if I'm just another follower for you. Did I really just use all those "fors" just now?" As for the guy followers, you're cool too lol... Thank you again if I didn't just bore you now, that you scrolled away from this lol.
FYI: The photographer of the shot next to me is from the well known SM talent of Fabian Lewkowicz.
