In April 1981 former Southern Pacific 4-8-4 #4449, newly repainted in her original Daylight colors, led an excursion from Portland, OR to Sacramento, CA for the opening of the California State Railway Museum. It stopped overnight in Klamath Falls, OR where the late Jim Boyd of Railfan Magazine lit the locomotive up.
