Spiraling Down Under
A more classic spiral staircase today, and this one is from the Australian High Commission in London.
Australia House sits on The Strand and is the longest continuously occupied diplomatic mission in the United Kingdom. It was opened in 1918 by King George V, and I visited here during last year's Open House event.
For me, there were two reasons to visit here, the first being its two stunning spiral staircases, and also the fact that this building was J.K. Rowling's inspiration for Gringott's Bank in the Harry Potter books, being a fan I couldn't pass up a chance to visit the "real" Gringotts!
