Fortnum & Mason

Fortnum & Mason

Last one from London for this week, and sticking with a Christmas theme, this is from a quick visit to Fortnum & Mason in Piccadilly.

Their Christmas display is absolutely stunning with a huge spiral bauble display coming down from the roof to the Christmas tree that sits at the bottom of their spiral staircase. It was fairly busy in the store but I had no problems getting the photo I wanted. The staff weren't bothered about people taking photos at all and I spent a good 30 minutes or so getting various views.

I wanted to practice some new techniques for me, so this is a five shot handheld vertical panorama. It sounds impressive but It really isn't that technical, to be honest, but it was fun to try something new.

Fortnum & Mason was founded in 1707 by William Fortnum a footman in the household of Queen Anne, who also had a sideline job as a grocer, along with his landlord Hugh Mason. They opened their first store in a small shop in St James's Market. For those who love trivia here's a random fact, In 1886 they became the first store to sell tins of Heinz Baked Beans and other Heinz food products.
