Clevedon Pier

After leaving Cheddar Gorge on Thursday we headed to Clevedon to get a few photos of the world famous Victorian pier.

I'd been wanting to visit here for some time, it's a gorgeous old pier with a fair bit of history behind it. The pier was built during the 1860s to attract tourists and provide a ferry port for rail passengers to South Wales. Finished in 1869 the pier served as an embarkation point for paddle steamer excursions for almost 100 years. It has been described by Sir John Betjeman, as "the most beautiful pier in England" and was designated a Grade I listed building in 2001.

When we arrived the weather had turned and it was grey and dull, so I went for a long exposure shot to give it that fine art style look. Fingers crossed on my next visit I'll be able to shoot it with a nice sunset.
