Placenta cake

I was curious about this ancient Roman cake. They don't make anymore and now I know why. It wasn't that good.

I got the recipe from the Pass the Garum blog. It's made with layers of dough and cheese flavored with honey and bay leaves. This ancient time dough, before the discovery of butter and rising agents, was tough. Oh, and it's pronounced plah-ken-tah cake.
