Simnel cake

Sticking with the BBC website's recipe for a traditional British taste. That includes making my own "mixed peel" and scouring the city for "black currants."

 

This cake is a cross between a fruit cake and bread pudding - it's crispy on the outside but moist and gooey on the inside thanks to the fruits and butter.
