42 Street - Grand Central Station, 7 Train Platform, Structural Detail, Center Stairs 2014.10.08
42 Street - Grand Central Station's 7 Train Platform has three main sets of access points. One each on the east and west end of the platform, along with a central set of stairs, which includes a tiny and very slow elevator. During the morning "Rush Hour" the sea of humanity vying for access through the center set of stairs is incredible. When one train arrives hundreds exit and eventually squeeze into the tiny passage up to other lines or out to the surface. But when two trains (from opposing direction) platforms simultaneously, literally thousands of people can almost instantly appear.
