A sky, a bulrush and two sentry boxes - Un cielo, una espadaña y dos garitas (Explore 11Abril2021)
Imagen de la espadaña-campanario y las dos garitas que la custodian, ubicadas en la Peña de Arias Montano...Este lugar se encuentra en pleno corazón del Parque Natural de la Sierra de Aracena, rodeado de encinas y castaños, dominando los tejados del município de Alájar (Huelva-Andalucía) y gran parte de esta sierra.
Lugar telúrico con cierto halo de misterio, con muchas grutas en su entorno, aquí se encontraron restos de asentamientos humanos pertenecientes a la edad del Bronce. A una de estas cuevas se retiró a meditar Benito Arias Montano, bibliotecário del monasterio de El Escorial en tiempos de Felipe II, a esto se debe el nombre del lugar...pero ya los árabes en el año 1114, entraron con sus tropas en el lugar y sintieron esas vibraciones especiales de misterio por lo que consideraron el lugar como sitio de oración de La Laxar árabe.
En esta peña existe también El santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Angeles, levantado en el siglo XVI, que alberga la imagen titular de gran devoción en los pueblos de esta serranía y por la que se celebra una romería cada ocho de septiembre, excepto en este pasado por el covid.

This place is located in the heart of the Sierra de Aracena Natural Park, surrounded by holm oaks and chestnut trees, dominating the roofs of the Municipality of Alájar (Huelva-Andalusia) and a large part of this mountain range. Telluric place with a certain halo of mystery, with many caves in its surroundings, here remains of human settlements belonging to the Bronze Age were found. Benito Arias Montano, librarian of the monastery of El Escorial in the time of Felipe II, retired to one of these caves, this is the reason for the name of the place ... but in 1114 the Arabs already entered with their troops in the place and felt those special vibrations of mystery for what they considered the place as a place of prayer of the Arab Laxar.
In this rock there is also the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Angels, built in the 16th century, which houses the titular image of great devotion in the towns of this mountain range and for which a pilgrimage is held every September 8, except in this past for the covid.
