Sam Yu Midterm

Leslie, 20. Currently a second year student at Baruch College majoring in marketing. She is a volleyball friend that's down to do anything and go anywhere with friends. This picture was taken in Chinatown because it shows her cultural background. As an Asian American, she's always in an Asian society because it's the community where she grew up in. She loves to eat and she grew up eating Chinese food and snacks. And as a New Yorker, we're always on the go, so it's not surprising she has a bag of food and bubble tea in her hands. This was taken at the Manhattan Bridge because she crosses this bridge every day and night to get from home to anywhere. She claims it's part of her lifestyle so she wanted to take the photo at the bridge.We could've easily gotten on the train that crosses the bridge and taken the photo on the train, but she wanted to be special and take it in front of the bridge where there was incoming traffic. So we had to time the traffic perfectly before we get run over by cars. This photo shows symmetry and perspective of the bridge behind the subject. There is also strong contrast of figure to ground because of her black leggings against the light gray concrete. There's light from every direction because it's shot in daylight but not direct sunlight.
