Burrowing Owls
First light on a dead cholla cactus they begin their day. pursuing fig beetles, crickets, dung beetles, and any other insects they can catch. Seems they do most of their rodent hunting at night, and since I haven't seen them catch any during the day it sounds quite believable. I much prefer the low light, as the large irises look way more cool.
