Confused and scared, the pod of Risso try desperately to escape the terrifying wall of sound created by the bangers-Taiji,Japan
January 5, 2016 - Risso Dolphins Slaughter – at Taiji, Japan
The killers wasted no time on their first hunt of the year. Shortly after all 12 bangers boats left the harbor to hunt, an innocent pod of 15-17 Risso Dolphins was spotted off the coast.
The pod of Risso Dolphins was quickly driven to the Cove by 6 banger boats and netted close to the killing cove. Trainers did not find any of the Risso worthy of Captivity and left the Cove as the pod was driven under the tarps for slaughter. In their last moments, the pod huddled together, stricken with fear. The entire pod was slaughtered as Cove Guardians heard thrashing and splashing from the killing cove. The bodies of the innocent Risso were transferred out of the cove to a waiting banger boat and taken to the butcher house.
It is shocking how quick the killers were able to find and destroy this beautiful and innocent pod of Risso. The slaughter is a direct result of the Captivity trade.
