"Then, as already consigned to deal with the cult and devotion to the venerable image, the city obliged, as vowed by the city council, to solemnly celebrate these victories one day of each year, says an author of that time, and gave the first day on the 20th of January in 1647, with very great solemnity of ornament, an image of Rosario, music, lighting, soldierly and equipment costs."
