Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my Followers!

Well, another year gone by! 2017 has been a mixed bag tbh. On the emergency vehicle front, it certainly was a stellar year! For starters, I finally got a pic of one of the unmarked Proactive Team cars responding (see pic above), plus all the new vehicles that have entered service this year. On top of that, I caught quite a few 'rare' vehicles as well (the unmarked PS Avensis and X5 and the Sussex Police Transit 'Removal' van. Visits to stations were down this year, but since I'm in Aberdeen a lot more now (I'll explain this later) there is not much need to visit the stations as often.

On the airshow front, I was hoping to go back to RIAT and the Scottish International Airshow this year but alas that wasn't to be, however I did get a welcome return to Airbourne this year which personally I thought was more enjoyable this year than last. And on top of that got a few visits to airports and RAF Lossiemouth.

On the model front, well it was a mixed bag. On the 1/64 scale car front, 2017 will be a year to remember! Plenty of new models appearing in shops (if you exclude ASDA's appaling distribution of new MBX cases). Even majorette is making more of an appearance here in the UK will items from the brand being sold in Morrisons (they have been sold here for the last few years but Morrisons' finally updated there stock this year), TK Maxx (I failed to get any from this store sadly), Tesco (although that was short-lived), Toys R Us and Home Bargains. All the model makers have produced some wonderful new castings this year and I'm still yet to get all the ones I need! On the 1/400 plane front, well things weren't so bright. I was hoping 2017 was going to be a bumper year for 1/400 since its 10 years ago this year I got my first 1/400 aircraft, but sadly I haven't bought a 1/400 since July since none of the new models that have come out since I actually wanted.

2017 has been a big year for my personal life as well, since I've moved on from secondary onto College in Aberdeen (which is the reason why I'm in the city most days now). Its a big leap forward but thankfully I seem to be coping! Also from November onwards I've started to edit my pictures using photoshop, I'm enjoying using this to edit the photos and it seems you guys like it too!

Finally, I'd like to dedicate this post to the emergency services who work tiredlessly to protect us and keep us from harm. Also I'd like to thank them for allowing me into stations etc! God bless everyone who works in the emergency services!

What about the future? Well 2018 is going to be 5 years since I joined Flickr (can't believe how time flies) but I still haven't decided what to do to celebrate that landmark. Also I'm hoping to going to RIAT next year for the RAF's 100th birthday, since that RIAT will be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

But most of all, I'd like to thank you, my friends and followers, for all the support you've given me throughout the year, whether that's through favourites or comments! So, from me, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Stay safe and keep spotting!

All the best,

Calum
