The Engineer

Durango and Silverton Engineer William (Bill) Colley is at the throttle of this excursion. Bill looks over his shoulder at his 11 car train he is pulling up the steepest part of the DSNG Mainline between Hermosa and Rockwood. The train is right about halfway into the assault on the hill when I took this shot of Bill looking back at his train while the K-36 # 482 Makes its way through an S Curve seen through the front window.

I got the opportunity to climb aboard for this particular run from Durango to the Cascade Canyon where the train would turn around and break for lunch then head back to Durango. Anyway I got the opportunity to get this cab ride while working on my final high school project. It could be on anything I wanted it to be, and so I was able to get in contact with the owner of the DSNG and got the go ahead to begin the project. In Mid March of 2014 I used my spring break to create the project. I created about a 2 hour long video for my project. And the when the owner saw it he commented saying that it was the most in depth look at the Operation of the DSNG he had ever seen. With that being said this was probably my favorite shot from that trip.
