Reflections
WOW: Dazzling
When I close my eyes and think about the word dazzling, dazzling would remind me of something shiny and sparkly. And so the first thing that came up in my mind was a beautiful young girl who was wearing a tiara under a streak of light from above dancing. This idea somehow became a difficulty as I didn't know how to dance, neither did Emma, or Mikayla and we don't have a stage to dance to, and we don't have the control over the drama stage. So instead of a girl, I decided to take a picture of a tiara that I borrowed from Emma's mom.
I first took the pictures on a bed that had a white bed sheet, but I thought it didn't really work because the tiara wasn't dazzling so I turned of the lights and took a lamp to create a shine. The light was really hard to catch, and the dazzling parts were hard to take from my camera. I then decided to take the picture on a small plant, but it looked weird and finally I decided to take the picture on a table. I couldn't catch the sparkles on the picture, and Emma thought of an idea of placing broken pieces of a disc to create more sparkling reflections. As a result, I have a dark background, and a white setting, which created a contrast. The tiara itself and the black background also created a contrast. Then the disc helped create rainbow colors of reflections and also created a reflection of the tiara. There were lots of reflections in this picture so I named this picture, "Reflections". Light was show from an angle above, and the most highlighted place of the subject was the middle part of the tiara. This picture was taken in a lower angle where the some of the pieces of the disc is blurred.
Another difficulty I had was creating the focus. My camera always focused on one part of the tiara, and I wanted to focus on the whole part. It took a lot of shots, from different angles and different angles of the light to create the dazzling sparkles, while you can still see the reflection and have the whole tiara in focus.
Although this photo does not have a story or something meaningful behind it, I really like how everything is like what I wanted it to be - the reflections, the dazzling colors, and the tiara.
