I am afraid this is the last one from METU OPEN 2014.
There was a dance competition held at my university and being one of the accredited photographers, I was able to visit backstage and had the chance to photograph a couple of very beautiful ladies that wear a heavy make up.
As I had the long waited diversity and as most of these people were relaxed with cameras and the concept of being photographed, I was pretty happy.
Shooted 500+ images in 5 hours and I already started making plans about next year's competition. Sadly my equipment was not suitable for the dancing part and I still have a lot of editing to do. I need to submit my images as soon as possible and after deleting several images, I still have 230 to edit.
Sadly most people were in a rush at backstage and I didn't had the chance to ask names. I had questions to ask but didn't have the chance.
When competing, they have very happy faces (except Pasadoble of course) and it gives you joy to watch. I wonder what lies behind that glamour. I am sure hours and hours of practice is not so enjoyable. They travel a lot. That Saturday's competition started at 9 AM and ended at 23:30 PM. That's a lot of time to spend. There were dancers lying on the ground and sleeping. It is definitely tiring. Wonder for how many years they can dance and whether they make a good living out of dancing.
I am sure making a living with something passionately loved is good for everyone.
This picture is #19 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
