Bluebunch & Pine - The Battle Continues
Bluebunch wheatgrass is a common low to mid elevation grass in the central interior of British Columbia (Nicola Valley in this shot). However, humans have been so efficient at extinguishing fires that trees have been slowly establishing itself onto native grasslands. But recently Mother Nature threw a curve ball and now a minuscule insect called the mountain pine beetle have attacked many of the pine and are making grasslands the king of the mountain again.
