When we see different colors, we automatically react with a corresponding feeling. We see red and think danger, we see yellow and think happy, we see black and think power. The goal of my series was to communicate mood through not only the color, but also the setting of my photos. I wanted these photos to show stillness, calmness, and serenity.

Each photo in the series presents separate settings with similar color schemes to emit the same mood. I wanted to present this feeling without being obvious and 100% straightforward. In this first photo, a small jazzhouse is pictured at night. While it is perceived to be bustling and partying on the inside, the outside is still and calm. NOThe third photo is of a window overlooking a lake. The light curtain and calm sunset. The fourth photo is of a still poolNO. While the pool can be found full of people and fun in the summer, it has now collected only leaves in the corners and the water is murky and dirty. The still water automatically made me think of calmness and peace. The final photo depicts an empty laundromat. The general griminess and negative connotation to public laundromats evokes a feeling of sadness and sympathy. As a whole, my series conveys the feeling of being at peace and being still through color and setting.
