JUNKBOAT

by jklu17legodude

This is my submission Bricknerd's "pi-RATS & BUG-aneers" contest.

The JUNKBOAT is a pirate ship with an entire crew of Junkbots that also just so happens to look like a giant Junkbot. I imagine that after completing their mission in the old flash game on the Lego website and collecting all of the blue trash cans from around the factory, the Junkbots deconstructed the whole factory and used the materials to build this ship in order to venture forth in search of even more trash on the high seas.

I tried to include as many visual elements from the game as I possibly could, such as the colorful brick stairs, the heavy metal factory doors, the various sci-fi wall display panels, the drab gray color scheme of the level design, and the rows of technic bricks found throughout. I even recreated and modified the actual lettering of the game's title screen. Also take note of the decommissioned enemy Gearbots shown here at the base of each mast and the Dripping Taps serving as some kind of spout at the stern. Some of my other favorite details are windows to the captain's quarters in the bottoms of the oversized Junkbot minifigure feet and the iconic square recycling logo adorning the sails, flags, and treasure chest full of trash. Not to mention the mer-Junkbot figurehead!

I take every opportunity I can to reference the weird and super niche piece of Lego history that is Lego Junkbot, and when I heard that this Bricknerd contest revolved around building a pirate ship for any non-human Lego character, this was the first thing I thought of. I really enjoyed this build and I hope fans of Junkbot everywhere do too.
