The Guggenheim Museum skylight or "oculus"is one of the most iconic images in the world.It stands 90 feet (21.615m) above the rotunda of the museum and spans 58 feet (17.678m).The dome window is made up of twelve

sections;they rest on concrete structural supports that extend down through the building as web walls along the perimeter of the curved building.There are a total of 169 sections of glass on the skylight,14 for each "pie slice" and one polygonal cap where they all come together.Installed by Fisher Skylights,Inc.between 1956-59 the skylight consists of a metal frame two layers of exterior glass and a single layer of glass in the interior.
