USS Midway Museum, San Diego

Located on the Naval Pier right n the heart of the Port of San Diego. If you arrive on a cruise ship then you will probably berth just a few hundred yards from it.
Last visited in January 2017. Even in January, you expect gloriously sunny weather in Southern California, right on the border with Mexico, but it rained virtually all day and we even had a hail storm, much to the surprise of the locals. Consequently, the light was very poor and the photos do not do some of the exhibits the justice they deserve.
A vast array of US Navy jet fighters, helicopters and electronics aircraft on the top deck and some well reconstructed WWII fighters on the hangar deck. Many aircraft are loaned by the Navy Museum at Pensacola.
Well worth a visit and so close to the two other museum sites in San Diego.
