Sheikh Zayed Moschee - Abu Dhabi
Wenn man das Gebäude betritt, ist man zuerst von der Helligleit des weißen Marmors geblendet. Kurze Zeit später kommt man aus dem Staunen nicht mehr heraus. Die Große Moschee erscheint im Kontrast vor dem blauen Himmel wie eine visuelle Täuschung.
Benannt wurde die Moschee nach Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Gründer der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate und Herrscher von Abu Dhabi. 1996 wurde der Grundstein zum Bau gelegt - erschaffen wurde ein Kunstwerk, daß es kein 2. Mal auf dieser Welt gibt. Die offizielle Eröffnung der Moschee war 2007.
