Western Whip Snake (Hierophis viridiflavus carbonarius)

A consolation find after the fleeting glimpse of the much rarer Algerian Whip Snake (Haemorrhois algirus), the next day a 1m plus adult of the dark form of western whip snake, the least rare of Malta's four established species of snake. It was found under a piece of discarded wooden fence panel.
