Tongues of Fire (Gymnosporangium clavariiforme) 1 of 4

Initially I was shocked to find virtually every juniper bush on the chalk grassland reserve near my house had sprouted fiery fingers of fungus! Apparently they aren't thought to harm the juniper which is just as well given their ubiquity. The rain in the past two days has presumably prompted the orange eruption!
