Male Sunfish With Nest

On a sunny summer day with no wind, you can see lots of sunfish nests. Each one has a male sunfish guarding his nest from other males and trying to entice a female to chose his nest to lay her eggs. Once she does lay eggs he chases the female away & guards the nest up to and a week after hatching until all the babies have dispersed. So the male is the nurturer and the female is just the egg machine.
