HDFC Bank's CSR initiative Parivartan. Karnataka State Report Jan-March 2021 Cover.
Despite most areas of Karnataka having access to water for agricultural purposes & also the requisite infrastructure, there are some regions that
continue to suffer droughts. The situation is particularly bad in a few
districts, including Bidar, Gulbarg & Raichur. Although there are a few
areas in these regions that are irrigated, better agricultural infrastructure remains the need of the hour.
Taking a comprehensive look of the entire situation, HDFC Bank Parivartan decided to empower & develop communities in a sustainable manner.
Under the Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP), the Bank focuses on:
Natural Resource Management (NRM)
Health & hygiene
Skill development
Education promotion
While managing the resources helped increase the ground water level, improved crop yield & made water available for irrigation, other initiatives focused on enabling the villagers to become entrepreneurial & financially independent. Through HRDP, the Bank is working to create sustainable communities in over 31 villages across 4 districts in Karnataka - thus reaching over 10,320 households.
