Police Cadet Corps Hendon passing out parade programme July 1963

The final big manoeuvre, before being inspected and then marching off, was (if I remember correctly) "THE PARADE WILL ADVANCE IN REVIEW ORDER!" Sixteen paces to 'The British Grenadier' and halt in unison "ONE,TWO!", without command. After it was all over, an ecstatic Bill Bailey, almost in tears, rushed to where we were falling out between the classroom blocks on the south side of the Parade Square. "NO MAN WAS OUT OF STEP IN THE FORMIN'!" "IT'S NEVER 'APPENED IN THE 'OLE 'ISTORY OF 'ENDON!!" On a sunny July afternoon in 1963 we 17 and 18 year olds made the day and 'istory for one ex RSM Grenadier Guards.
