This is a view of Bneid Al Gar and the Gulf Road. The Gulf Road is a long stretch of road along the coast of Kuwait City that starts at Jahrah and ends south at Messila, where it joins the Sixth Ring Road. Another stretch actually called the Coastal Road, from Fintas to Fahaheel is also sometimes called the Gulf Road. Landmarks located alongside the road include the Kuwait Towers, in Kuwait City and the Kuwait Scientific Center in Salmiya. The Gulf Road is coveted for its amazing sea vistas, and is the main hub for new construction of future buildings and renovations. A boulevard passing through much of coastal Salmiya is a reflection of Kuwait's drive to modernity. Much of the beach front had been renovated by the Kuwait Govenment after the destruction of the Persian Gulf War.
This is a view taken from 56th floor of The Al Hamra Tower, which is a supertall skyscraper currently under construction in downtown Kuwait City, Kuwait. Designed by architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the tower will become the tallest building in Kuwait on completion in 2010 at 412 m (1,350 ft). It will also be the tallest sculpted tower in the world. The tower will include 98,000 m2 (1,050,000 sq ft) of commercial and office space. The building will connect to a five-storey retail mall which totals 23,000 m2 (250,000 sq ft) of retail space and will include an integrated theater complex and an 11-storey carpark. The tower itself will be built on an 18,000 m2 (190,000 sq ft) construction site.
The Al Hamra Tower will have over 70 floors of office space, a rooftop restaurant and a spa. The shopping centre will include a 10-screen cinema complex which will also have IMAX theaters. As of February 12, 2009, construction of the tower had reached over 263 metres. The eleven-storey car parking is currently nine floors overground, while four floors of the shopping centre have been completed and construction on that component carries on. The tower itself is currently on the fifty-sixth level. Topping-out is scheduled for late 2009, with the tower opening in the second half of 2010.
