The Empire Theatre was built in 1913. On 6-19-1913, the Anacortes American reported, "Will Build New Theater." The article mentions that negotiations to build the theater had been pending for some time and that the plans had been prepared. On 12-18-1913, the paper reported, "New Theater Opens Monday."
By 1957 it was no longer serving as a theater. Phil Burton, a jeweler with a shop on the street corner of this building, purchased it and later remodeled.
