Peterhead RNLI Lifeboat - Aberdeenshire Scotland 2017

Visiting Peterhead Harbour I captured the Lifeboat berthed in the quay, it was great to get so close to the vessel.

The Misses Robertson of Kintail is the 10th Lifeboat in the history of Peterhead Lifeboat Station, and was the first Tamar Lifeboat in service in Scotland.

Misses Robertson of Kintail

Misses Robertson of Kintail is a Tamar class Lifeboat, the first deployed in Scotland and second in the UK. The Tamar class is the latest design for the RNLI, and will gradually replace the current Tyne class vessels in operation. Both bigger and faster than the Tyne, the Tamar also includes the computerised Systems and Information Management System (SIMS) that enables crew to control many of the lifeboat's functions remotely from the safety of their seats. Other features include advanced ergonomics that reduce the impact on the crew as the lifeboat crashes through waves, and a powered Y boat stored behind a transom door to allow immediate deployment.
