visual artist, graphic designer, writer, translater and publisher
Zylvia Auerbach is an Australian-German publisher based in London and Frankfurt; trained as visual artist, graphic designer, art historian and curator in Sydney.
After getting some artist run exhibition spaces off the ground – CBD Space, Sydney; L68 Project Space, London – Zylvia worked as a writer and translater. Writing monographic essays about the work of contemporary artists – a. o. Andreas Exner, David Harley, A.D.S. Donaldson, Florian Haas, Susanna Hertrich, Eike Laeuen, Monika Romstein and Gerald Domenig.
After studying painting, art theory, film and graphic design in Sydney she worked as independent curator on a number of projects in Australia, UK and Germany; also being involved in the Biennale of Sydney and The Sydney Performance Space. As a designer she worked with the likes of Standard Rad and Surface before starting her own practice.
Aside from her activities as a curator, writer, translater and publisher of artists books, Zylvia has designed several publications for other major art book publishers, as well as working as a typographer developing custom made typefaces for digital printing.
The non-profit organisation KANN-Publications artists´ press was founded in 2001 operating from Frankfurt and Sydney, Zylvia being their ongoing artistic director.
