I took 2 black & white photography classes while I was attending Pacific Union College and had a lot of fun. Once I was done with the classes, though, I stopped taking photographs (it was too much trouble to develop & print the film).

I got back into photography when I got a Canon Powershot in 2005. I've found the lack of equipment required to post-process and print digital photos very liberating.
