I'm a high school science teacher with a background in biology.

The early happy snaps on an Olympus c-740, then an Olympus SP-570UZ......but I left that camera sitting in a playground never to be seen again :-(

The next camera was a Canon PowerShot SX10 which I had mixed feelings about, but teamed with a Raynox I started to get results I was quite happy with.

then...Canon EOS550D, and a few lenses, the most commonly used being a Canon Macro Lens EF100mm.

Now? Canon EOS 6d, a MPE 65 mm lens and a ring flash

As this photostream has evolved I've decided it is mainly aiming to show as many of the Tasmanian critters I can find. I'm no photographer. Often the photos are really crummy because I can be outwitted by small creatures easily. Wind and dull light challenge my skills too! Often I include photos purely to show that the animal exists here, and I hope that I'll get a better shot in the future. I find it exciting to see just how many animals exist cohabit the state despite our impact, and I hope others find it useful or interesting too.

The Astronomy shots are from my astronomer husband Simon, who used to get his name on the Zosterops profile too, but I've deleted him as he hardly ever posts, and his name seemed to lead to confusion. He's still hanging around though :-)
