I have enjoyed "assemblage art" and sculpture for over thirty years. After building the Aether Spirit Containment Apparatus I got several comments that it looked like something out of a Jules Verne story. It was then that I went looking online for Jules Verne and discovered this thing called Steampunk. It amazed me that there was actually a name for the style of artwork that I had made. Whodathunk?
There are some truly great Steampunk artists out there! See Dr. Grymm's book 1000 Steampunk Creattions www.qbookshop.com/products/193854/9781592536917/1-000-Ste... Steampunk is a burgeoning counter-cultural movement; a genre, community, and artform. The Steampunk movement seeks to recapture the spirit of invention, adventure, and craftsmanship reminiscent of early-nineteenth century industrialization, in part, to restore a sense of wonder to a technology-jaded world.
Packed with 1,000 color photographs, 1,000 Steampunk Creations features a showcase of stunning jewelry, fashion, accessories, headgear, artwork, home decorations, and curious contraptions.
Also, a special thanks goes out to Lockwasher and Clayton Bailey (the Godfather's of robots and ray guns) for their inspiration.
The ray gun idea that these two chaps came up with is brilliant and I just had to give it a try.
As with all my art, it's not for sale. I just do it for the pure enjoyment of making something cool out of scraps and pieces.
My son, Nick, thinks that these ray guns are the coolest and he is the "only kid on the block" to have one!

I have been to all the altered worlds in my travels and Professor Quentin Ziplash stands out in a group of artists I consider to be outstanding. Assemblage Art allow us to speak from our artistic souls and if it was a church, the Professor would be the preacher. Each time I look at his work I find I am surprised, amused, awed, and envious. I find myself wishing we shared studio space so I could be there to see where this come from. The art world is changing, it is a brave new world and we are lucky to have artists like the Professor to lead us through it.
