I am a native of Utah. I currently live in Salt Lake City. I like photographs that capture things that are overlooked or "unseen".

There is a 'Simon & Garfunkle' song lyric that says "Preserve your memories; they are all that's left you."

One of my earliest memories is of looking at 35mm slides that my father had taken with an old Argus C3. We would sit together as a family making comments, which over time, became ritualized. The slides were randomly shuffled as to time and place. There are things in my past that I think I remember, and then realize, it is only because there is a picture of it somewhere.

I started taking photographs to remember people, places, and the times we had together. The criteria for my first camera was that it have the smallest body available; it was an Olympus OM1. It served me well and resulted in photographs that renew the pleasure of the time when they were taken.

Motorcycles are another thing I enjoy. When I take long rides I struggle with the urge to stop to take photographs or ride. So I've come up with my own style of 'high-speed photography'. I take photographs as I ride.

Many of my photographs were taken while riding at highway speeds, occasionally as fast as 80+ mph.

2019 Update. Nowadays, I have slowed down. Grandkids will do that to you. I take bicycle rides that have the same feel as going 80+ miles per hour.

Thanks. Mrk
