I was introduced to photography though my father. He bought his first 35mm SLR in the 1960's and developed black & white. On occasion, I was allowed to borrow his camera.

I've owned 35mm since the late 1970's, mostly for family portraits. I bought my first digital camera about 2002 (a 3MP point and shoot). The immediate results and self processing through Photoshop Elements, appealed to me.

I missed looking through the viewfinder and the instantaneous shutter release of an SLR. So I upgraded to a Nikon D70s. Last year my camera's exposure meter stopped working, and the D700 was being phased out. It was a good time to upgrade.

I yearn to improve my skills. I look forward to any advice that will improve my technique.
