We are Yula & The Extended Family, an ever-morphing poetic tribe of musicians and artists based in Brooklyn.

We perform live music headed by composer, singer, and sonic creature Yula Be'eri. And we produce art, photo, literary, theatrical, and music events celebrating our movement which we call, Ro-Punk. Punk because life is tough, and romantic because we all need a little hope sometimes.

Yula's known for her previous work in the underground cabaret punk phenomenon, the World Inferno Friendship Society; the post-punk rock trio, Nanuchka, and the hardcore punk band, Star Fucking Hipsters. She's also performed alongside members of Gato Loco Coconino, The Dresden Dolls, Franz Nicolay, The Hold Steady, Marcy Playground, Dolchnakov Brigade, Black Sea Hotel, and many more.

The Extended Family also includes Isaac Gardner (drums, theater, crafts), Stefan Zeniuk (GatoLocoMusica.com, composition, sax, flaming sax, performance art, film), Sarah Zar (musical saw, painting, art, concept), Kevin Taylor (horns, accordion, composition), Kate Campbell (trumpet, filmmaking, spoken word free verse), Rob Meyer (trombone, gardening, green culture), Daniel J Gerstle (bass, guitar, piano, literature, photo, film), Kriss Marchena (management, literature, culinary arts). and many more.

Curious about the music? We try to avoid genres. However, influences are clearly post-punk, proto-punk, ska, sixties rock, and Mediterranean. You may hear a dash of Siouxie and the Banshees, Tom Waits, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Kate Bush, devils, angels, crackling fire, and forest spirits.
