I'm one of those nomadic teachers of English you may have heard about. From Ireland, I've been slowly moving for some years through Central and Eastern Europe and into Asia, the Middle East, South America, back to Central Europe and in the Arabian Gulf. 'It's a long road that has no turning', whatever you understand that to mean ;-)

A late convert to digital photography (I resisted for as long as I could) I've had my digital camera for 20 years years now and I love the whole uploading vibe! Started my digital photo adventures with a little Fujifilm Finepix S5700 (alas it is no more) before upgrading to a Nikon D5000.

I was living in Kazakhstan then for a year when I starting taking and uploading photos before moving to Hanoi, Vietnam. I loved Hanoi but it's one noisy, crazy, sweaty place. let me tell you! We spent our second year in Vietnam in Danang half way down the coast, loved Danang; natural beauty, friendly people, what more could anyone ask for? Another favourite place from those years was probably East Africa, Uganda or Rwanda.

Moved to Bahrain and stayed in the Arabian Gulf for almost two years, saw (and photographed) uprising and revolution with my own eyes in more than one country! May you live in interesting times, indeed!

Then Jordan, where we stayed for four years. Jordan is steeped in history but also has more natural beauty than most would realise. Also visited Lebanon, Cyprus and Egypt and several others. The Middle East odyssey couldn't continue indefinitely though.

Next, Bogotá, Colombia for three years. Quite unlike anywhere we lived before but despite the security issues, high crime rates, the traffic and the massive wealth disparity between parts of the city we LOVED it :-) During those three years we also visited Cuba, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Guatamala and Ecuador, and LOTS of Colombia.

And three years after, moved again...this time back to Europe (with our Jordanian cat and Colombian dog) for the first time in 15 years to Bratislava, Slovakia. We took our first trip to the Western Balkans; Croatia, Bosnia-Hergovina and Serbia, just before Christmas, 2019.

Covid put an end to international travel for a while there, but we used the time to rediscover Slovakia and our neighbors (neighboring countries, that is :-D). In 2022 the world was tentatively open once again. Montanegro, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Liechtenstein were the new countries added post-lockdown(s).

Start 2023 to end 2024 I was in Doha, Qatar before truimpantly returning to Europe beginning of 2025 ;-) Added Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and Azeribaijan to the country count the 1st year, Tunisia, Canada, Kuwait and Sri Lanka in the 2nd.

So far in 2025 added San Marino and Monaco to the list.

89 countries visited this life so far and counting...
