I was born in 1951 on a farm in East Griqualand which is one of the most beautiful areas of South Africa. I have been married for 37 years to Guy and we have three wonderful children Candice, Paul and Matt.

We moved to live in Pietermaritzburg in 1978. Our family has been privileged to grow up in an old farm house on the outskirts of the city. We have gradually renovated this old home and have lived a fulfilling life in the capital of KwaZulu-Natal.

The book – You’re Awesome – Simple lessons to lead a happier and more fulfilling life – is also the fruit of my own nearly 60 years of life experience and includes many of the lessons that I have learned from the world’s greatest philosophers and spiritual leaders.

The photographs in You’re Awesome have been taken by my good friend Terrence Mtola. His images depict the beauty of our people and the magnificence of our country.
