Back in the day when I was growing up my parents only owned a Kodak (I think) Instamatic. I used to borrow it occassionally without a great deal of success, often since the film was months old and so would invariably come back a funny colour. After leaving University I purchased my first camera, an Olympus OM10 SLR and progressed to print my own photos in a darkroom (b&w only, I never did progress to colour). Like others, I seem to have owned many 35mm cameras since that time and in addition to b&w film, I used colour slides. This was followed by a move to Digital including a mirrorless Panasonic which I really liked at the time.

I have always had a love of Steam locomotives and so, whilst I do take photographs of other subjects, I have decided to devote the majority of this site to these photographs and in doing so hope they also serve in a small way as a thank you to the many owners, volunteers and paid staff who work so tirelessly to keep these magnificent machines on the main line.

Forgive the intrusion if a few shots of diesels on the mainline appear every now and then.

Most of my recent colour digital shots are taken around the local area and prior to that in and around Cheshire.

I am in the process of slowly digitiising my older b&w negatives and colour slides.

Anyway, thank you for taking the trouble to read this and please post a reply to any photo which takes your interest (good or bad).

Oh, and lastly, may I respectfully ask that you please do not use any of my images without prior permission.
