I have come to love fotography for many reasons, including (in no particular order) that I find the process of taking and editing fotos relaxing;that no photo I ever take seems to show exactly what I intended but with luck may show a lot more; that fotography is something I'm not very good at and therefore can still learn about; and that I am quite forgetful and therefore usually repeatedly surprised by the content of any foto I have not looked at for a while.

I work as a lab-based biologist at the University of Kent (my job-title is Senior Lecturer in Systems Biology), which may explain my need for a relaxing hobby as well as my interest in natural subjects. Having said that, there is not much I would not try to take a picture of... my favourite photos on flickr probably have an unusual angle in common more than any particular subject.

My own fotostream is a mixture of pictures I take for enjoyment, holiday snaps, and of images that are somehow work-related (including lab days out and stuff I use for outreach work with school classes). I strongly believe in the open access philosophy, therefore if you see anything you like among my images, do what you like with them (all I ask is correct attribution).
