Pre PANDEMIC

I travelled extensively as a global house sitter, recording the landscapes and the people of the various regions i found myself in @ the time. I have since stopped moving until i feel safe to visit other places again.

I hope U R all doing well; I regret i may have lost many friends and followers during the last 2 years.

I opened several online stores:

My hand-made crochet fashion and soft furnishings are available as unique pieces, shipped globally. I supply a variety of local stores in my region (cafes, pizza restaurant, fashion shops, vintage and collectables outlets); I design and make each individual piece in my studio.

I was for 7 months on Angels beach, NSW, a most delightful beach setting which inspired endlessly, as is obvious from my uploads from 2013.

After 2 years of taking care of shoulder surgery & other health issues in the west of Australia. My new lumix (a gift), my new HTC M8, Kodak and iPADair2 keep me company on my daily image hunting explorations. i use my Samsung A 70 and tablet as well as my Panasonic Lumix currently (2021).

I spend an inordinate amount of time editing, uploading images b4 & after upload. Am working, reviewing my method of shooting and posting after the last few years of flickering.

For the immediate future my design business, mentoring, workshops and promoting my brand (Yazmina-Michele de Gaye) is a most primary concern. Time will tell how the tides of change determine how i re-orient my visions :))

After editing mini @rt books, www.facebook.com/Yazmina.Michele.de.Gaye

as they went to print i invited all my contacts to visit the online store and to feel free to order for themselves, any of my @rt books in the format most suitable to their budget. I had to wade thru more than 15 000 images, knowing full well that there are some rare gems in the mix.

I had surgery to a damaged shoulder, hence impossible to predict what i might have produced in terms of images.

I acquired an iPad2 during recovery; the simple fact of the lightweight gadget and the touch screen gave me endless joy. And the camera produces large format and grainy images in lo lite :-)) & I am using a few APPS (BeFunky, Bamboo Paper with stylus, Zagg, instagram...) in conjunction with my preferred picasa & snapseed...

I lived in the lush sub tropical region of NSW for many years. I can no longer afford to live there as rental is prohibitive. I have been in WA, Australia since the beginning of the PANDEMIC with no known date of travel or relocation.

the specific region of WA, quite the opposite of the tropical eastern state of Australia is quite a challenge and i am adapting to it. I am creating a Native garden; time will tell how I manage this.

Yes, my most recent uploads come from my Android HTC M8 and iPAD air2 ; they allow me to posterize, solarize, with minimal edits and instant posting to flickr...i have not used my Kodak Z650 for so long, too much to carry around :((

I intend 2 upgrade sometimes in the future; i realise that my talent deserves quality equipment and attachments which i can ill-afford. I have bought some cheap tripods of late and they r all funky & dysfunctional...GODDAMN!

I have my eye on a cannon EOS 550D; i have recently acquired a 500 GB external hardrive (LARFING NOW terrorbytes is what I need) and downloaded 50,000 images, now re-organising them into some even more re-fined order.

not so currently using a Kodak zoom z650

I am Artiste & knitwear designer. I live an eco-sensitive lifestyle, with minimal carbon footprint.

I am now ensconced in the Hinterland of Byron Bay, NSW Australia, documenting the flora and fauna (which includes some rare and colourful human species) of the Northern Rivers Region.

2019...I have been in the West of Australia, daily images present themselves to my inquisitive lens, and am only too keen to share my discoveries with my flickr friends, new and old.

I sit on the fence between Specificity and atmospheric when it comes to my photographic tendencies. I am most fond of mono, N&B, dramatic @bstracts, fotojournalistic xposes, Architecture, unusual street scapes and randomn images that capture my imagination.

Pre digital...

I was once given a brownie www.brownie-camera.com/ because it suited me said John. Some years later, with a grant from the Dept of the Arts, same said curator and I processed and exhibited B&W photographs (documenting my return journey to Mauritius, my homeland). I was called a new photographer with an eye for the light, for details. I used a Pentax then, with all the attachments, macro lenses & zoom.

I dream of a Hasselblad digital SLR, of course...

Tho i prefer un-altered images, i have been known to indulge in some collages and photo-montage.

Yaz is an artist through every cell of her body and art permeates everything she does. She also has variety of experience that gives her a unique point of view. She was born on a small island in the Indian Ocean which was not inhabited until Europeans colonized it in the 19th century. There she learned the preciousness of life and the ecosystem that supports it. She now lives on a Nature Preserve located @ the Eastern most point of Australia, where the first light of dawn hits Mt Warning, in the hinterland of Byron bay, the tourist mecca, in Northern New South Wales, Australia. The ecosystem she lives in is subtopical and contains many unusual flora and fauna which she documents with a profound sensitivity. She uses film, mostly B&W and produces gallery quality images that leave the viewer gasping at the variety of images that nature presents to her. She has developed a unique visual style which includes elaborate montages of a single or similar subjects. Most of these montages are gallery worthy for their sheer beauty and unusual format. She lists herself as an artist that produces unique hand made textiles for garments and ornamentation. These works are of astounding beauty and complexity. Her knitting involves techniques of sophisticated mathematical complexity, while retaining a highly developed aesthetic. She is prodigious in her output of both textiles and photographic works. She is a great artist of extraordinary talent and accomplishment deserving to be seen. Please give yourself the pleasure of viewing her amazing work. Morris Creedon-McVean

Very involved in the flickR community, Yazmina is a great photographer who can see things that anybody else can. Lot of good shots with great composition, strong lines in the images. Keep up the good work my friend.
