I just like taking photos. I take at least one camera with me everywhere I go. Sometimes I can't get out when the light is at its best, but I still like to capture things around me.
I'm interested in many different types of photography: landscapes, street photography, food, travel and daily life. Whether you like my photos or not doesn't really bother me. I do this because I enjoy it.
My camera of choice is my 1976 Hasselblad 500 CM. I started out in film and am enjoying going back to that using various pinhole cameras, Holgas and vintage cameras from my stash. In 2018 I added a Leica MP for my street photography. If I use my digital camera then my choice is my mirrorless Sony a6500. My large dslr is seldom used any more. I do more film than digital these days.
Photography is my love and my main hobby.
In 2011 I started a blog: gretchenhayhurst.wordpress.com
This is my first stab at this and I'm having some fun with it.
2012 update: My digital cameras are spending more time in my bag as i make film my first choice. I dabble with toy cameras from lomography: Holga, Sprocket Rocket, 360 Spinner, La Sardina and the Lomo Kimo, but my first camera of choice is the old Hasselblad.
I just added a Hasselblad XPan to play with my 500 C/M.
2013 update: I've been using my pinhole camera more and more and recently added an Innova 6x9 built by Don Pyle. I am doing a series of interior shots, especially coffee shops, and with every quilt I make I take a long exposure of me, on the floor, basting it.
late 2013: just added a Don Pyle 4x5 pinhole to my collection.
Also have just gotten back into the darkroom. Haven't developed my own film since high school so looking forward to this.
2015 update: I spent 2014 working on the 52rolls.net project and I managed to complete all 52 rolls and more. This year I plan to devote more time to my personal blog, more pinhole photography, home development and contact printing.
2020 update: I'm now working with the Project Box Camera group. I'll be using a different box camera each month and uploading to the Box Camera site. I am also delving into contact printing: salt, cyanotype, platinum, and VanDyke. A camera is always with me,
