Inspired by the film "The Blues Brothers" at the age of 10, Jakob's passion for filmmaking was ignited. Armed with his father's camcorder, he spent countless hours crafting stop-motion films using LEGO. His unwavering dedication to the art form led him to spend his pocket money on cinema tickets, nurturing his love for the cinematic experience.
In 1998, Jakob submitted a short film featuring a digital spider to a local festival and received recognition with a prize. This milestone propelled him further into the world of filmmaking and sparked his desire to pursue it as a career. He embarked on internships with photographers and pursued an apprenticeship in Frankfurt, specializing in Media Design. There, he honed his skills in image manipulation, camera techniques, and 3D animation.
In 2003, Jakob had a life-changing experience when he watched Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill: Volume 1." The film's impeccable harmony of various artistic elements inspired Jakob to fully commit to the craft of filmmaking. It became a defining moment that solidified his dedication to the art form.
After visiting the Festival de Cannes in 2005, Jakob made a bold move and relocated to Shanghai, China, often referred to as the "New York of the East." There, he quickly established himself as a prominent filmmaker, working with prestigious clients such as Porsche, Dell, and Microsoft. He founded his own production company, MK Media Productions, and delved into various creative endeavors, including writing three feature film scripts and working on the visual effects crew for the high-budget production "John Rabe." Additionally, he directed his first feature film, "The Way of the Spur."
Currently residing in Saarbrücken, Germany, Jakob balances his roles as a filmmaker and a family man. He is happily married to his wife Jiajia, and together they have a daughter named Emily. Jakob continues to showcase his creative talents at m&r Kreativ GmbH, a full-service advertising agency.

It was not the way I had pictured it. Afterwards, we had this amazing dim sum at a tiny restaurant whose name I can't remember. It started raining, and the air smelled of fall. We laughed trying to feed each other dumplings. And I had thought that buying the rings would be stressful.
